A lot. When meeting someone for the first-time in business or relationships, look directly into their eyes to create a sense of trust. It does not make you a phony to have a Duchenne smile (eyes and mouth), on your face. It makes you likeable.
We strongly suggest you concentrate on exchanging a firm handshake with men, a gentler one with women. People abhor the dead-fish handshake introduction. Body Language
Your facial expression, posture, and hand gestures, help create your image. Be aware that logic aint got nothing to do with it; our brain requires instant decisions to prepare for Fight-or-Flight. We have been programmed that way for millions of years.
You can change their mind, but it requires knowing the rules of game. The sound of your voice alone can cause a likeability or rejection decision. And we are totally unaware that we have decided for or against - based solely on appearance.
Is it worth knowing how fragile our likelihood of success may be? It hangs from the thread of knowledge. Knowing we are not as rational and calculating as we believe, and neither is anyone else, gives us a competitive advantage over those who live in ignorance.
It is emotion that rules, not reason; love it or leave it.
See ya,
